Any study of paleontology would become infinitely more compelling if one could travel safely back in time, which is exactly what happens in these 32 short, profusely illustrated pages of well defined facts and wonderfully conceived fantasy. Just as it happens in other Magic School Bus books, the class moves safely and amazingly into its subject, whether it's the waterworks, Planet Earth, the human body, the solar system or the ocean floor. Cole once again develops a briskly paced plot and cheerful repartee for her racially diverse child characters, while Degen's full-color cartoon-like illustrations unearth humorous action along with important facts.
